he Goddess Hadimba is revered in this area. Goddess Hadimba was the sister of the Rakshash Hadimb who ruled the mountains and was feared by all. When Bhima, the Pandava brother met Goddess Hadimba with , he fell instantly in love and wanted to marry with Goddess Hadimba. But Bhim had to kill her brother first. After the death of her brother, Goddess Hadimba proved to be a good queen. Goddess Hadimba was fair and loved by all the people. Goddess Hadimba finally went to the forest called Dhungri Van Vihar to spend her last years in mediation and it is at this spot that the Goddess Hadimba temple was built. Also known as the Dhungri temple, it is a wooden four-storey structure and is built in the pagoda style.
